FAQs & interesting facts
Location & Arrival
Where exactly is the Berghotel Hochfügen located?
Our mountain hotel is located at 1,500 metres above sea level in the middle of the Hochfügen-Hochzillertal ski and hiking area in the front Zillertal. Hochfügen is actually a separate side valley of the Zillertal and has a centuries-old history of alpine farming. Hochfügen was only opened up for winter sports at the beginning of the 1960s. It is still an insider tip for all mountain enthusiasts - an ideal starting point for an active mountain lifestyle. Our guests appreciate the perfect symbiosis of nature, sport and relaxation.
Is the Berghotel Hochfügen easily accessible by car?
Yes, we are accessible all year round via a well-developed, two-lane mountain road (approx. 13km from Fügen) right to the front door.
Is winter equipment necessary?
Grit and salt are spread on the road and snow clearance works very well. However, weather changes must always be expected. Winter equipment such as winter tyres and snow chains are therefore essential for your journey to Hochfügen. Four-wheel drive vehicles do not usually require chains.
During the winter months, the road to Hochfügen may have to be closed at short notice due to the risk of avalanches. Please enquire before your journey in particularly snowy winters.
There is no petrol station in Hochfügen. You should therefore consider the outward and return journey (26 km) to avoid getting stranded. However, we can of course also help out here in an emergency.
Is there a car park at the hotel?
Free parking spaces are available for our hotel guests directly at the hotel. We do not have a garage.
Do you have e-charging points for my car?
We have 2 e-charging points from the provider DA EMOBIL at the hotel. Billing takes place directly with the provider via your card.
Is there also a bus connection to the valley?
Free buses run to the valley in summer and winter.
Is it possible to travel by train?
Travelling by train is possible. The railway station for the Zillertal is Jenbach. There you change to the Zillertalbahn (narrow-gauge railway or bus) and continue to Fügen. From there, take the bus or a taxi to Hochfügen. We are also happy to organise a pick-up service (for a fee) from Fügen or Jenbach station.
When is check-in and check-out?
On the day of arrival your room will be available from 3 pm at the latest, on departure we ask you to vacate the room by 10.00 am.
Can I arrive earlier or stay longer?
We can only rarely offer a late check-out. However, you are welcome to change at our hotel so that you can use your arrival or departure day for skiing or hiking.
Can I also arrive after 6.00 pm?
Yes, but please let us know briefly. You can still arrive for the regular dinner until 8.00 pm. If you arrive later than 8.00 pm, we can prepare a cold snack for you on request.
Is there a doctor and pharmacy nearby?
There are several doctors and a pharmacy in Fügen (13 km). During the winter months there is always a doctor available for guests in Hochfügen. They are private doctors and direct billing with your health insurance is not possible. The nearest hospital is in our district capital Schwaz (approx. 33 km).
