History
We can look back on a long history and over the years our company has constantly evolved.
When Hochfügen was still called Finsinggrund, Babette Guggemoos, a large landowner from the area around Lake Starnberg in Germany, built the Berghotel - the first hotel in Finsinggrund - in the early 1960s. The hotel, which was a luxury hotel by the standards of the time, was completed and opened in 1963.
The access road to Hochfügen was still very adventurous at that time and so it was important to use it as rarely as possible! So they built their own doctor's surgery, hairdresser, pigsty (!) and butcher's shop, smokehouse, bakery/pastry shop and unusually large storage rooms in order to be able to survive being trapped for longer periods due to avalanches. In other words, almost the complete infrastructure for a medium-sized village - for just 80 house guests!
To ensure that guests didn't get bored in this remote location (there weren't many ski lifts yet), lavish parties were organised, a bowling alley was built and there was even an ice skating rink in the courtyard.
Erlebach family
Mrs Guggemoos only ran the hotel herself for a short time, followed by changing tenants until the purchase by the Ernst Erlebach senior family in 1983, who extensively modernised the Hochfügen mountain hotel. In the early years, the building was damaged by avalanches several times, but without personal injury. Thanks to extensive structural measures, the hotel is now considered avalanche-proof. After the takeover, significant investments were made in technical and energy-related refurbishment. By completely insulating the building and renewing the heating system, energy consumption has been significantly reduced in the long term. A district heating system is also planned to make the operation even more sustainable.
Step by step, numerous guest and leisure areas have also been renovated and extended, including the sauna, wellness and swimming pool area, restaurants, bar lounge, après-ski areas, rooms, bathrooms and windows. Today, the mountain hotel is technically and structurally modernised and offers a contemporary, comfortable environment for its guests.
Remodelling work
The Berghotel Hochfügen has been extensively modernised in recent years. The Gogola Alm including mini-market, bar, self-service restaurant and terrace has been completely renovated and now presents itself in a modern Tyrolean style with lots of old wood and cosy seating areas. In addition, the rooms, lobby, lounge and restaurant have been redesigned and furnished with high-quality natural materials - for a contemporary, Alpine feel-good ambience.
The wellness and fitness area has also been expanded: a new organic herbal sauna, a Luis Trenker infrared cabin and a panoramic fitness room with modern Technogym and Precor equipment ensure relaxing and active hours.
Our aim is to constantly develop and offer you new moments of well-being. To achieve this, we think ahead, invest continuously and design our rooms with a love of quality, comfort and regional design - so that you feel at home with us every time.
