
Hiking in Hochfügen
Hochfügen is the ideal starting point for hiking tours in the Zillertal Alps. Thanks to its location at over 1,500 metres, you can reach numerous trails and routes directly from the village, without long journey times.
The surrounding area offers a varied network of routes - from easily accessible panoramic and alpine trails to more challenging mountain tours for experienced hikers. Clear mountain air, wide alpine pastures and impressive views accompany you on every route. The free hiking bus between Hochfügen and Fügen provides additional flexibility.

Spieljoch | the all-rounder mountain
A highlight for the summer from June to October is the Spieljoch adventure mountain. The first Zillertal children's climbing garden is located directly at the mountain station, and the new mountain adventure park at the 2 reservoir lakes is also worth a visit.

This easy circular hike is suitable for the whole family and offers unforgettable insights into the diversity of Hochfügen's alpine pastures. Past the Hotel Lamark, across alpine meadows to the buildings of the Holzalm-Niederleger. Continue into the valley to the Viertelalm-Niederleger at the foot of the mighty Marchkopf. Following the alpine path, you reach the Pfundsalm basin below. Once there, leave the alpine road to the left and follow the marked trail in the direction of the Lamarkalm. From there, return to the starting point, which is already in sight.
Summit tour to the Gilfert | for experts
Distance: 15.3 km | Duration: approx. 6 h | Ascent: 1,200 m | Descent: 1,201 m
Demanding circular hike with a double summit victory. From Hochfügen along the forest road to the Loassattel (1675m) - continue from the ridge to the Gilfert (2,506m) - back to the Sonntagsköpfl (2244m) - from there a steep path down to the Lamark-Mittelleger - along the forest road to the Lamarkalm and back to Hochfügen.
Hike to the Rastkogelhütte | for sports enthusiasts

Medium-difficulty hike with a ridge crossing and magnificent panorama. From the car park in the direction of Rastkogelhütte - Sidanjoch (2,127m). Stay on the forest path to the end of the valley, then turn left over the stream uphill to the white house visible from afar - continue to the end of the forest path, then take the marked trail (slightly uphill) to the Sidanjoch 2,127m and you will see the Rastkogelhütte 2,117m. Go back the same way!
Alpine crossing Tegernsee to Sterzing via Hochfügen
The Alpine Crossing is a 7-day hiking route from idyllic Tegernsee on the Bavarian edge of the Alps via Achensee and Hochfügen in the Zillertal valley to Sterzing, the northernmost town in Italy. The entire route runs on easy to moderately difficult paths through magnificent and varied landscapes. With stage 4 (of 7) you reach Hochfügen and can stay overnight with us at the Berghotel Hochfügen and fortify yourself for the onward journey with the amenities of our hotel.
