Off the piste
Away from the pistes, Hochfügen also offers numerous opportunities to actively experience the snow-covered mountain world.
Cross-country skiers enjoy sporty exercise with impressive views on the panoramic high-altitude trail, while winter hiking trails invite you to take relaxing walks through the tranquil landscape. A special highlight is the floodlit toboggan run in the evening - ideal for families.
Cross-country skiing
While cross-country skiing in the clear mountain air in the alpine village of Hochfügen, you glide through the alpine winter landscape and find yourself in the process! On the right track, it's easy to clear your head and feel the power of life! What's more, this winter sport is easy on the joints, training all the muscle groups in your body and getting your heart and circulation going.
Passionate cross-country skiers appreciate the high-altitude cross-country ski trail, which runs for almost nine kilometres from the Berghotel in the direction of Gamsstein (Loassattel) and back through the breathtaking mountain world. The crystal-clear mountain air reveals the most beautiful natural spectacles and you can feel the power of the Alps up close! The Sport2000 Unterlercher shop in the mountain hotel will provide you with professional advice and top-maintained hire equipment.
Tobogganing
What would a winter holiday in the snowy alpine village of Hochfügen be without a hearty toboggan run? The Hochfügen-Pfunds toboggan run is easily accessible on foot from your cosy accommodation at the Berghotel Hochfügen. After a 40-minute ascent through the mountains, you will reach the starting point of the 1.5-kilometre-long toboggan run. Thanks to the relatively gentle course, the toboggan run is also ideal for children and beginners. The toboggan run is floodlit every day and offers thrilling tobogganing fun in the snow even after sunset.
Our tip: steer the toboggan by shifting your body weight to the left and right and only use the steering belt to support the movement! You can hire a suitable toboggan from the Sport2000 Unterlercher shop on the ground floor of the Berghotel.
Winter hiking
If you enjoy travelling off the beaten track and are looking for an alternative to ski touring, then a snowshoe hike is just the thing for you! As snowshoes increase the contact surface on the snow and distribute your body weight evenly, sinking in is made more difficult and you make progress with little effort.
You trudge through the alpine mountain landscape with ease and enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the white mountain giants. Lonely paths lead you through quiet forests and to very special places of power that are hardly frequented in winter.
In Hochfügen, you have the opportunity to take part in a guided snowshoe hike in winter. If you prefer to set off on your own, you can hire a suitable pair of snowshoes directly at the mountain hotel in the Sport2000 Unterlercher sports shop. No special shoes or climbing skins are required.
